Diving Boards SEL Curriculum
They’re here! We just received our first boxes of Diving Boards, the curriculum we’ve been working on at Argonaut over this past year. It’s a set of 48 cards, each one on a social or emotional topic relevant to middle and high school students. From Body Image to Personality, Self-Compassion to Boundary-Setting, these are the topics that we found had the most engagement and depth in our Argonaut groups.
Each card is designed to start a meaningful conversation, with suggestions for prompts, how to approach a sensitive topic, and how to make sure it’s relevant and personal to adolescents in a group.
We call these cards Diving Boards because they’re jumping-off points. The diving board is not the point—getting into the water is the point. More than the topics being raised, the aim of these cards is to prompt authentic, engaging, awareness-raising conversations. This is social-emotional learning in action.
The whole list is below, and we’re nearly ready to launch a new website, www.divingboards.org, to offer these more widely. Into the water we go!
